Boosters Update--August 9

Dear Blue Hawk Players, Families, and Fans,

It's so exciting to be in the groove for our 2012 season.  As expected, the heat and humidity are greeting our teams as they report for their first week of doubles.  AND, as expected, our long-time Blue Hawk football fan, Sandy Healy, was there to cheer them on with her famous popsicles as the second session ended yesterday.  Thank you, Sandy!!!

Lots of preseason news to pass along....

Blue Hawk Card Distribution - Friday, August 10th and Blitz Friday, August 17th

The traditional annual Blue Hawk Card (aka Gold Cards) fundraiser kicks off tomorrow.  Every Blue Hawk football player is expected to participate in this very important event.  At the end of tomorrow's (Friday, Aug 10) morning session, your player will be given his allotment of Blue Hawk cards to sell.  Your player is responsible for those cards and must turn back in the same number of cards or their equivalent monetary value.  Traditionally this is 25 cards or $250.00.  Please, please help us reinforce the importance of your player's responsibility.

Coach Ball will explain the fundraiser when cards are distributed.  Ask your player for that information when he brings the cards home with him.  Your player should inform you that every morning during the week of Aug 13-Aug 17th, Football Boosters will greet the players as they arrive for morning session.  Players should bring in their Blue Hawk card sale proceeds every morning and turn that into the Boosters.  Boosters will keep a running tally of each player's progress in sales.

On Friday, August 17th after the afternoon session, all players will gather at EHS for pizza and drinks and then "blitz" the surrounding area in one last mass drive to sell Blue Hawk cards within our community.

Kate Adler is the project manager for this year's Blue Hawk Card fundraiser....and she needs help.  Kate will be at EHS every morning next week to greet the players as they arrive and could use some help.  In addition, on Blitz Night, we need drivers for our freshman and non driving sophomore players to get them around the community to sell their cards.  Freshman are not allowed to ride in upperclassman cars; parents are need for this task.  If you can lend a hand in either of these needs, please contact Kate at:   This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Blue Hawk Football Picture Day - Monday, August 13th

Your player will be informed that at 1:00pm on Monday, August 13, he must report for team pictures.  Your player must report even if he is not going to buy individual pictures.  Team photos for the annual football program will be taken at that time and we want every player to be part of that.  Your player will be given an order form for individual orders and he must bring the form and money with him on Picture Day.  Your player will need his blue game jersey and his blue game pants (stuffed with pads) for his picture.  Please help remind him of these details.

Coach Ball's Meeting with Parents - Tuesday, August 14th

On Tuesday @ 5:30pm in the EHS cafe, Coach Ball will meet and greet all football parents/guardians etc.  He will explain the season, offer insight into what to expect, and answer your questions.  In addition, the Football Boosters BOD will be on hand with signup sheets for volunteer opportunities for the 2012 season - and answer any questions you might have of the organization.  Kelly Medley, our Clothing Fundraiser project manager, will have this season's clothing samples available for viewing.  Order forms will be available at the same time.....this is always our players' favorite fundraiser!  We encourage all of you to attend.

Reminders: Football Program Donation and Gatorade

1.      Just a couple of reminders that the Football Boosters have asked our families to consider a monetary donation to help defray costs.  The form for your donation is attached.  If you would like to turn your donation in at the Parent's Mtg, that would be great.  Otherwise, we ask that you put it in the mail with a postmark date no later than August 18th.

2.      In our 2012 Welcome Letter, we also asked our families to consider donating Gatorade for our teams.  The Football Boosters ship a cooler of Gatorade with each team for every player and coach for every away game.  With 140+ players and coaches, we need a lot of Gatorade!  Please consider donating a case or 30-pack of the beverage designated below.  (AND, you can bring your donation to the Parent's Mtg!)

·        Freshman Parents:  Red Gatorade

·        Sophomore Parents:  Yellow Gatorade

·        Junior Parents:  Orange Gatorade

·        Senior Parents:  Blue Gatorade

Blue Hawk Football Website: http://www.bluehawkfootball.org/

The Football Boosters man a website throughout the season where we place information as it comes into us.  We are lucky to have a parent of two former Blue Hawk football players actually doing all the work for us.  Thank you, Peter Stackhouse!  The website is starting to get populated with this year's information.  Please visit it if you are looking for information.

Roll Call - Do We Have All Football Families?

The Football Boosters BOD recognizes the importance of communication with our families.  We "think" we have a complete listing of all players and their families email addresses, but there is no way to know for certain.  If you have a friend who has a Blue Hawk football player, please ask if they have received this newsletter.  If not, encourage them to send a note to Marty Wilcox ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) with their player's name, grade, mailing address, email address(es), and parent names.  Thank you for helping us with this task!

The Football Boosters are always available to answer your questions.  And, you will have many.  As you will hear from Coach Ball on Tuesday, player, coaching, equipment, etc. questions should be directed to the coaching staff; season events, fundraising, etc. should be directed to the Football Boosters.  If you do not know who to direct your question to, just ask and we'll help with that.  The Football Boosters will be at the Parent's Mtg on Tuesday and will solicit your questions there also.  If you have a question, most likely someone else has the same so please ask.

We're very excited and look forward to seeing our old sideline friends, meet new ones, and cheer our teams on together this season....and we're so glad you are a Football Booster too!

The Exeter Blue Hawks travelled to Derry Saturday afternoon to face the 10-1 Pinkerton Astros in the Division I Championship Game.  While only the team, its coaches, and devoted supporters believed they could emerge victorious over the touted, #1 ranked team in red; with their 23-13 win, the Blue Hawks proved to all doubters that they were the best team in Division I New Hampshire high school football for 2011!

The Blue Hawks held the potent Astros offense to just 13 first half points on two long touchdown runs and the Exeter defense held firm for the rest of the game, allowing the offense to wear down the Pinkerton defense in the second half.  The Blue Hawks went into halftime trailing 13-10 and emerged to shut out the Astros in the second half.

The Hawks' offense controlled the clock with key first downs and its patented ball control attack, scoring both a rushing and passing touchdown.   Special teams were again a key third phase of the Blue Hawks' attack as three field goals, a squib-kick fumble recovery, and an excellent combination of its punting and kickoff game allowed the Hawks to force the Astros' field position.

This 2011 Blue Hawks team has a ton to be proud of.  They started their championship season in the weight room immediately after last season's 1-9 inaugural D-I season record and rode their hard work and commitment to a historic turnaround.  With your 11-1 season and Division I State Championship less than a year later, you have set the standard for hard work and commitment for future Blue Hawks teams!

We are so proud of you and your accomplishment!  Congratulations Blue Hawks!
