2013 Exeter Blue Hawks

Senior Recognition Night Information 11/1/13

Can you believe we are actually gearing up for this?  As many of you know, a special Blue Hawk Football tradition is that all players/managers and their immediate family be recognized at the last home game.  Families typically create a poster sized (poster-board) collage of their player - with photos from the season and/or past seasons- to be displayed on this proud night. And yes, typically the mom's do wear their player's varsity jacket or other Exeter wear - but that is a personal choice

This year's senior night coordinator is Lee Ann Cammett and she needs your attention to, not only the poster, but to respond to her ASAP on how you would like parents/guardians/friends of the senior will be introduced. Siblings are welcome to come out with parents for a photo as well with your senior.   In addition there are instructions on the letter regarding the end of season banquet's video that we need your attention to.  If you have any questions please contact Kate Adler.

Some helpful hints - Staples will laminate Posters - WALMART online will do a collage poster all online if you upload the photos - and you can pick it up in the store - I did one in about 20 minutes this afternoon just to try it out. Please punch holes in the corner of your poster to hang it on the fence that night - we should have zip ties and some folks have used binder rings to hang the posters in the past.  Don’t forget those Kleenex for your pocket, you’ll need them!

Blue Hawks Renew Old Rivalry, Fall to BG in Overtime 21-14

The Exeter Blue Hawks traveled to Nashua Saturday night to battle former Division II rival Bishop Guertin Cardinals.  For those with historical memories of this rivalry, this game was little different from previous battles with tough defense and big emotions.

With defense dominating the first half, the teams went into the break tied 7-7.  BG took a 3rd quarter lead and the Blue Hawks countered tying the score in the 4th.  Deadlocked at 14 with just minutes remaining and a chance to take the lead, a Blue Hawk fumble gave the ball back to BG.  With a defensive stop giving the ball back to the Hawks' offensive, one final drive in regulation moved the ball deep into BG territory.  Attempting to set up a potential game winning field goa with seconds remainingl, a BG interception along the sideline killed the drive and ended a chance to pull out the victory before overtime.

In the first overtime period, BG gambled on 4th and 5 connecting for a touchdown pass and leading to a 21-14 lead.  The Blue Hawk offense could not answer with a 4th and 8 screen pass stuffed by the BG defense securing the win.    The Blue Hawks (3-1) return to Nashua next Friday night  to face Division I Nashua South.
